muffler questions...thermal sound clips

i just got me a nice shiney new hole in muffler (i'm assuming) and now my car is making all kinds of loud, ricey sounds. is it possible to hack off the muffler, and throw on a universal, or axel back while keeping the stock piping, or is that a no-can-do?

right now i'm debating whether i should spring for a thermal cat back, or just a magnaflow muffler. obviously, i'd like to be able to get away w/just the muffler, because i'm trying to wrap a couple of things up w/the money i have. at the same time, i'd rather have the thermal, but i'd end up pushing other priorities back -like buying records for my next party, clothes, phone, etc... i think i hate my car. but i hate car payments more. =-(

u have a few choices
1. go to your local auto parts store and buy a universal muffler and take it to ed's mufflers (or any muffler shop) and they will weld it on for like 20 bucks...
2. u could buy a catback pacesetter or thermal thermal u have to get online, pacesetter cna be found anywhere
3. u could go buy some j-b weld and weld that sucker up...it sjus like glue but incredibly strong...let sjus say it can fix a hole in a block...lol

thank you much guys! YOU guys are the best.

i got my muffler replaced today. i was gonna get the magnaflow, but the guy said it was pretty loud. -atleast as loud as my exhuast is now, just sounds better. i told him i wanted something pretty quiet, so i can hear my radio again.

after he started quoting me prices for the muffler, piping (i need the pipe after the axel, obvious hole there), resonator, and labor the price kept going up and up...

mechanics suggestion: oem replacement

that's what i ended up doing. sounds better than it used to, and i can hear my radio again!
