Bisimoto Development Thread

As some of you may have noticed, Bisimoto has offered to make Cam gears for us. This is a reply i got from Justin@bisimoto
_________________________
Greetings,

I spoke to Bisi this morning about this matter and this is what I was told.

The designs for the A-series cam gears are near completion. If 20 people can commit to purchasing these cam gears then we can go ahead and put them into production.

For the intake manifold gaskets, we do not have any currently available for the A-series motors. If 50 people can commit to purchasing these gaskets Bisi said that he would design and produce the gaskets.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact me

Thank you for your interest in Bisimoto Engineering and we look forward to hearing for you.

Sincerely,
Justin

So I want to know who out there is interested in getting a cam gear or heat shielded intake manifold gaskets. Remember its 20 for the gears, 50 for the gaskets.
Bisimoto asks for a 75% deposit, which would be 101.25, and after the cam gears are made, another 33.75+shipping (I assume 135 is not the shipped price) will be due.

After this initial "Group buy", these parts will be available as ordered.

Yea im not sure about the gaskets, but ill buy one just to see. I'll probably save it for a b-series intake manifold.

No, he meant 20 people must purchase for the gears to be made. They are 135. And yes, it will work fine on an ET.

So these are supposed to thermally insulate your intake manifold from the cylinder head ??

Are they actually effective or worth the money? Anybody had experience with them?

And will Bisi do one for A20 engines? (Different intake port pattern to A18/ET)

Gaskets will be made for the A20 motors, not A18/ET. They are supposed to be heat reducing somehow, not really sure on the specifics.

The gaskets would be made of nylon or some other kind of material with low thermal conductivity. The idea is to reduce heat transfer from the head to the intake manifold. Keeping the manifold cooler keeps the incoming air/fuel mixture cooler and therefore more dense. Meaning more power and probably less tendency for heat soaking the IAT sensor.

I'll probably get a gasket, when do we have to confirm by?

Would there be any possible noticeable advantage to having the heat shielding gasket when using carbs?

Prelude of the Month

May I add, the bisi cam gears interlock into one another, which will pretty much make them slip proof!

I'm ditching my skunk2's for some Bisi gears.

How much improvement can an adjustable cam gear make on a SOHC engine? I can see how it helps on DOHC where you can adjust exhaust and intake cams independently.

Not a whole lot, unless you plan to skim the head or deck surfaces, in which case the cam gear will be able to compensate for the change in timing caused by this.

Having said that, on an otherwise unaltered engine, I believe you can still derive some tuning gains by adjusting the valve timing via the cam gear. This won't be near as profound as on a DOHC engine, however.

EDIT: Just to make it known, I'm on the list for an intake gasket. 2DrSE-i knows, I'll let him update the list as I'm sure it is progressing on 3geez too. EDIT of EDIT: Just noticed knifemind took care of the list! Come on people, buy some gaskets!!!

You're doing a good job mate. My commitment to the gasket is firm.

We should probably aim for more than the required amount of commitments before sending money off to Bisi, as there is no point in sending all our money if it turns out 10 or so people pull out or forget about it all together, and then having to wait and keep Bisi waiting for ages, or all getting refunds or something.
